Participations: |
75 contest participants (35% growth vs 2008 edition) |
27 different groups subscribed the Innovation contest |
Up to 14 different Italian Universities including the most famous one |
The examination of the submitted papers led to the selection of 10 finalists. Among the 10 finalists we selected the top three.
The ranking among them was pretty difficult since all of them were very valuable
The evaluation was based on the following criteria: |
Design Concept |
1.Complexity
2.Functionality |
Design Implementation |
Documentation |

The demo of 4 DE2 boards running the IP Walkie Talkie application connected to an Ethernet switch.
Each board with its own speaker and mike works like a Walkie Talki with Puth To Talk button. Voice samples are captured and send over an IP network with multicast protocol.
The whole application has been embedded inside the Cyclone FPGA with a NIOS running a full Linux system. |

“FPGA-Based High Resolution Time to Digital Converter”
University: Politecnico of Bari
Team Members: Mariafrancesca de Ruvo, Gianluigi de Ruvo
Advisor: Prof. Francesco Marino
Description:
TDC can be applied into several fields ie: in scientific research application it used for estimating the life time of sub-atomic particle in high energy experiments. In military application it can be used for laser ranging systems or for measurements of distances, flows, density, thikness, etc. In this implementation the student was able to |
